As The Late Biggie Smalls Once Rapped "They've Been Cool Since The Days Of Underoos" and that certainly applies to Tito & Swan.
They have been entertaining Erie music crowds for years and if you're lucky, you might hear a few of these great ORIGINAL songs as you're out and around at a Money Shot show!
The following is the Erie Times-News review of Tito and Swan's first original release entitled "Aren't Those Guys Gay?"
3 1/2 out of 4 stars
As part of Money Shot, one of Erie's busiest and most popular cover bands, Tito & Swan showcase not only their musical versatility but goofball humor. These guys love to have fun, which explains their racing amped up version of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun."
That cover is a gift for fans on "Aren't Those Guys Gay?", the duo's first original CD, which showcases their true musical love: cushiony, billowy pop songs with hummable, irresistible melodies and sing-a-long lyrics.
Fans of Fountains of Wayne, Redd Kross and even the Archies will appreciate bright, sugary, flowing tunes like "Chicks Really Dig a Guy Who Plays the Guitar" and "I Just Want to Get Off," the stellar 1-2 punch that opens their CD.
Both are gooey, candy-coated gems, the latter with heavenly harmonies and flittering '60's-style keyboards. They'd sound great on the radio, hint-hint, as would "Tracey," a sublime, well-produced pop gem.
From there, the songs generally get more risque, though in a playful, funny way-not nasty or repugnant. Most feature unprintable titles, including the bonus cut about Swan's bout with ED.
Musically, they're a hoot: "Good Intentions" has a bouncy, country-inflected lope; you could almost hear Ringo Starr singing it. Horns pump up the snappy "(It's Only) A Matter of Time," which takes a sudden but effective segue into Lennon-like "No. 9 Dream" territory.
The language here may turn off some pop fans. "Aren't Those Guys Gay?" would definitely be slapped with an advisory sticker, if only for the 24-second goof, "I Hate Everyone" and the final lark about a dog's bad habit. But this is still a mighty appealing CD.
